Rhapsody The First Volume of the Muse Chronicles eBook David P Jacobs

In the afterlife, a severely antisocial housewife named Annette Slocum becomes a modern day muse, providing catalysts of inspiration to the living. With each person she encounters, and with each life story she affects, Annette soon discovers that her own past is somehow mysteriously woven into these once seemingly unrelated narratives.
When a malevolent childhood foe resurfaces in both her vivid memories and in the present life of her favorite client, Annette must make a perilous choice whether to run from her fears or to be empowered by them.
Unfortunately for her, one single misstep in either direction could cause a chain reaction that might decimate the already fragile tapestry of the universe.

Rhapsody The First Volume of the Muse Chronicles eBook David P Jacobs Reviews
This book. Is Fantastic. I saw that one reviewer said it moved too fast in important places. Well KEEP UP!
I was sucked into this book and could not look away until it was completed. Good luck putting this down! The writing is fantastic - everything explained in such detail you can't help but visualize.
There are twists and turns on every page - you don't know what is coming!
I love the book! I recommend buying it! It's very interesting and nice to read!
Meh..... I wouldn't waste my time reading a book that is so immaturely written. I will say this one is slightly better than the second book!! )
I am extremely confused by this book. I am not sure who the target audience is after reading. I think the author should state that on the cover. The author refers to childish like items throughout the book like a lite bright however I would NEVER let a minor read this book. I feel like some parts of book drag on forever and then extremely fast during critical times in the book. I think the writing is a little immature and doesn't target me or my friends. Don't waste your money on this item. This book has the potential to be a decent $2 bargain book.
Definitely different subject matter, and that is something I find refreshing. A quick and easy read - I couldn't stop reading. Will read the next installment.
This book is both beautiful and odd. A reader's enjoyment of it is likely based strictly on their willingness to accept it for what it is, rather than what they want it to be. Then again, this is likely true of most books.
"Rhapsody," which promises to be the first installment to a series, clearly has literary ambition. The pages are filled with stirring similes, lush imagery, clever language play, and one just knows it's stuffed to the gills in metaphor. It's not immediately apparent to this particular reader what all the metaphors are and what they mean, but they are clearly there. The book earns merit on this count alone. If nothing else, it's fun to read.
Fortunately, it is other things as well. The protagonist starts out flat, because she is supposed to be flat. There is nothing about her that should attract the reader to her, and her evolution into someone the reader is interested in is literally the point. On this count, it also succeeds.
The plot is a little more difficult to address. It does a fabulous job of raising questions, and in this way keeps the pages turning until the character advances enough to fill her role. A good many of these questions are answered, though my imagination had been drumming up so many possibilities, when the real answers came I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. There are plenty of other questions left unanswered, which I trust to be addressed in future installments.
My primary complaint is that the system appears to me to be a bit inconsistent. Time, in particular, and the rules the characters have in working both in and outside its bounds were unclear to me. Also, though I mention that the main character begins as intentionally flat, she was to the point of unbelievability. Third, for a work of fiction featuring such beautiful and fantastic imagery, it ironically takes a dim view of escape through literature. This last element is more observation than complaint.
As a whole, I genuinely enjoyed this selection and look forward to reading more.
This author is fabulous!
